About running with Soul…

Run with purpose, run with soul.  There needs to be an art applied to all the science we have learnt about running, from the various types of training, the numerous programs and run technique analysis.  It’s not all learnt in textbooks but comes only from years of experience, training, racing, working with other coaches, and experimenting. We have assisted everyday runners find their optimal form whilst creating a passion to run.

The skill to coaching in any sport, is in the assessing, through listening and watching the way you perform the activity or skill. Running is a skill, that must be understood,  before we build in more volume.

Soul Runner was founded by Melissa Vandewater, to not only run better and stronger, but to do it for a reason.  For some, this might be to just finish an event, lose some weight and for others it is to raise money or awareness for something they care deeply about.

Soul Runner has worked with beginner to elite runners, junior athletes, triathletes, and provided strength and run technique to Victorian Football League (VFL) premieres, Williamstown Football Club.

Soul Runner supports causes and aims to be socially conscious in it’s business practices. We have elite runners and expert coaches who know all about performance but also conscious of the footprint we leave behind.

Drop us a line, come to a workshop or get a personalised approach to your training. You will helping others just by signing up, that’s how we run with purpose!  (We are based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia).

Hi Kerri, We are based in Melbourne, and I’m guessing Solihull is England! I can certainly help with a program but our running group might a bit far to travel to! I hope you find a good squad there! Cheers, Melissa, Soul Runner

Hey – I’m running the NYC marathon in NYC – came back from a hip fracture after training for it last year. Keen to run my training plan past you and get your advice?

Hi Melissa. This might seem really weird, though I met your mum yesterday at my granddad Aurthur Young 100th birthday. Your mum and my dad are cousins, wow! I love love running! Your mum and I got talking, and asked me to drop you a line…. you sound so inspiring! I love talking to other like minded people and would love to join your group. Originally Im from the Blue Mountains and was in a group called the Summit Sisters run by a remarkable women Jo Brishetto and Gretel Fortman I learnt so nuch from them, and then we moved away and am now living in South West Rocks, I love it here. Though there are no real run groups. I started my own just to get to know some women and to find a common intetest. Though I would love to be able to get some tips from you, as I live so far away from Melbourne unfortunately I can’t run in one of your organised runs, so hopefully via email I can be informed of different techniques and maybe a plan of some sort. Your mum and dad are in awe of your acheivements I could have listened to them talk about your adventures for hours. Well I best let you go, and I hope you don’t mind me writing to you.
    Kind Regards
    Melissa Rowe

I’ve been surfing on-line greater than 3 hours these days, yet I never
discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It is lovely value sufficient for me. In my opinion, if
all web owners and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the net will be much more helpful than ever before.

    Hi
Thanks Melissa for saying Hi to me on Toorak road today.
In response to Soul Runner I’ll keep a watch on your fb. Once I’m stronger in my left foot I’ll definitely start hitting those pavements. It’s been awhile since my last run, however, with patience and prayer I’ll get there real soon!

    Hi Melissa
How many people do you have in a run sessions ?
Curious what the $70 fee includes, and how much time is allocated to member in the group ?
One last question about your training and qualifications.
    Thanks
    Molly 😊

      Hi Molly,
Thanks for contacting me. The workshops have 6-8 people. This allows for individual feedback on the video analysis I do during the session. I cover alot of content but also very practical so feedback whilst doing drills/exercises and questions. The sessions are 2 hours. My background is Applied Science degree with further PT and Run Technique analysis courses. I raced at National level track athletics and International in triathlon, under some of the best coaches in the world – that’s where I learnt most about running! Hope to see you at a workshop. Email soulruncoach@me.com for any further questions or for a session/program. Thanks Melissa, Soul Runner Founder.
